So, one of the trending topics right now on Twitter is #earthfootwear.
What is that, you ask?
Well, they are a brand about shoes that use 'negative heel technology' to help people walk straighter and burn more calories.
Now, I happen to own a pair of these shoes but only because my grandmother bought them for me, thinking about 'my health.' Normally, I wouldn't think that something like this could make a trending topic, until I researched the reasoning behind it.
With over 15,000 followers, they call her the 'Resourceful Mom.' Amy Lupold Bair is a freelance writer, a mother of course, demonstrating how to be resourceful, but also the formal inventor of what they call a 'Twitter party.'
She schedules a time and date for people to talk about a certain thing and voila, you have an entire community of people buzzing on Twitter.
For this one product, I know it is getting a crazy amount of question, considering the fact that it's not a well known brand among young people, but you better believe that people are goggling and asking friends and members on Twitter about them. And if they're not buying, they're at least creating brand awareness to stick out in the consumer's minds.
Resourceful Mom? I'd like to call her a marketing genius! She's using social networking to market like a Rockstar and use the internet/Web 2.0 to it's fullest.

Her next Twitter Party is going to be on Monday, January 11th for #GotMilk.
